Dear Friends,
Greetings from GG International School on the auspicious occasion of Karwa Chauth and Eid!

We at GGIS take this opportunity to welcome you to our family! Since the last seven years the Gyan Ganga Foundation has strived to achieve academic excellence and today, we can proudly claim to have moved in that direction by leaps and bounds!
Our parents have been supportive right through and have been our pillars of strength in the past five years. As a team of a 100-strong staff, we have taken every care to ensure every ward’s needs and our system of constant feedback keeps us abreast of any issues that are ailing our talented students!
Parents, students and teachers have appreciated our well-known zero-period, structured sports training, outings, Clubs, CCE activities, Saturday activities and other highlights like the Educomp smart class and Gandhi Centre activities to a great extent and have shown tremendous faith in the vision of the school Management!
GGIS students have had the pleasure of interacting with social workers, artists, actors, editors, ministers, sports personalities and other social figures that have contributed in making a change in our society.
The school boasts of:
  • Trophies and victories in Skating where our students represented India at the zonal, national and international level!
  • GGIS has hosted several inter-school matches and tournament and also won laurels in Football, Taekwondo, Music Competitions, Inter-school events and so on.
  • Several medals and public attention in the field of Table Tennis and Tennis have been our hallmark last year as well!
We’re proud to inform you that GGIS was visited by the Hon’ble Chairman, Education Department, PCMC and he has recorded his appreciation of the school’s endeavour in achieving excellence in various departments.
The school’s dedication is more than evident with its ‘Wall of Trophies’ which is home to several burnishing laurels that represent the talent that is honed within this campus!
With a limited seating of 40 seats, it makes monitoring easier and the ‘individual attention’ that has been long lost, is very much possible in this camera-monitored campus!
We welcome you to visit our school on week days between 9:00 am – 1 pm at your convenience and interact with our team. Should you be keen to enroll, it would be advisable to do so for the forthcoming year 2014-15 as early as possible to ensure a place in the child-centric setup we have.
Admissions commence on the 11th of November 2013 and as always, we believe that all students are welcome, without distinction or discrimination!
We will be most comfortable in filling the vacant seats with students of your recommendation! You are a member of the GGIS family and we trust that you will suggest only the best of families to study, grow and develop with your own child!
We look forward to a relationship of trust and dedication with you and look forward to having you on our team in the years to come!
Best wishes for the coming Diwali and the year ahead,

 Yours truly,
Director, Principal and the GGIS Team

Atmaraksha Workshop at GG International School

‘The correct rhythm not only gives you maximum power, it helps you conserve energy so you know when to use force and when not to.’

Empowering the students with the tools of Self Defence and confidence has been the prerogative of G G International School.
With the changing times and social conditions it becomes mandatory to be aware of the simple techniques of Self Defence therefore GGIS in collaboration with Times NIE arranged a workshop on Atmaraksha (Self Defence) on 14th and 15th Oct 13. This workshop specially focused upon the 13 to 15 years age group (Classes VIII to X).

In a duration of nearly 1 ½ hr the guest speaker, Mr. Tanmoy Bandipadhyay, discussed and enumerated upon the behaviour when stuck in critical conditions. It basically highlighted a point across that an alert and quick thinking mind is able to avert many problems at the grass root level.

The workshop taught the girls and boys to defend themselves from untoward incidents at public places or even inside their homes through simple yet effective  techniques, like- AFLOAT an acronym which stands for
A- Apprise & assess your behaviour
F- Forget about it/Ignore the person
L- Leave the situation/ walk away
A- Openly express yourself
T- Tell someone
He also removed the most popular misconception that Self Defence means a kick to the groin or a fist in the eyes of an attacker. But the actual terms Self Defence is doing everything possible to avoid fighting someone who threatens or attacks.
Speaking further the guest said that, self-defence is all about using one’s head and not just the fists. This education has no or very minimal requirements. It does not matter whether one has any previous experience or not. It is just Practical and Simple life saving skill and techniques with minimal commitment.
The students had a very interactive session with the speaker and went back more informed and alert for the future.

Dandiya Raas in G G International School

“The Dandiya Raas dance originated as devotional Garba dances, which were performed in Goddess Durga’s honor. “

G G International School looked like a mini Gujarat, with all the children of the pre primary and the parents, all dressed up in traditional Gujarati attire and dancing to the rhythmic dandiya beats!

The parents of the pre primary were invited to take part in the Dandiya Raas Event in the school. It was an opportunity for them to spend some enjoyable time with their children.
The children came well equipped with dandiya sticks, all ready to dance to the beats of the dandiya music! The girls were dressed up in colourful ghagra cholis and the boys dressed in traditional garba costumes. It was indeed a treat to the eyes to see the little ones in such colourful clothes!

It was heartening to see the tremendous response of the parents ,who turned up in huge numbers ,all excited to play dandiya with their little ones !They also got an opportunity to play the Dandiya Raas with their friends and the teachers as well.
Traditional gujarati music was played and everyone was engrossed in swaying to the rhythmic beats of the dandiya beats!

The Dandiya Raas Event was indeed a great event! It would be appropriate to mention the support given by the management and the efforts of the pre primary team and the administration staff who helped in making this event a grand success.

Mask Making Event

“The Mask Making Event, has given us an opportunity to spend some very good quality time with our kids. “
“This Event reminded us of our school days, when we used to put in our best to show our creativity.”

These were some of the comments of our parents, who thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Mask Making Event, conducted on 28th September 2013, in G G International School.
It was good to see the parents of the Pre primary eagerly participating in the event. They had come well equipped with the necessary material needed for making the mask. Their focus on creating the best mask is worth mentioning.

The parents displayed their creative ideas and also ensured that their kids also gave their contribution in making the mask. The little children were indeed proud to help their parents and it gave the parents also an opportunity to instill a wee bit of aesthetic sense in their little ones!

REPORT ON VISIT TO THE HOME FOR THE AGED.

The complete life, the perfect pattern, includes old age as well as youth and maturity. Old age has its pleasures, which though different, are not less than the pleasures of youth." This is something which we realized when we visited an old age home, Kinara at Nigdi with few students of class I and II on 8th October, Tuesday.

We found two categories of people there: the ones who were abandoned and deserted by their families and others who were physically disabled and mentally disturbed. Whatever the case may be, the sufferers were the aged ones. Old age is also called the second childhood, and is a time when one needs love and care of the near and dear

Before this, our children had never been to an old age home, so we were wondering what would it be like. The inmates were very hospitable and friendly, and they welcomed us with their beautiful smiles. To break the monotony of their lives, we presented few songs, which included Saraswati Vandana, followed by 4 patriotic songs presented by the children of all the 4 houses. Few children also presented a dance show on the theme of rainy season. The children also made them sing and dance along with them. The children then presented the residents, whom they addressed as dada , dadi, with greetings, biscuits, flowers , pen stands, hand-made boxes etc. We were able to make out that they were very happy to have us there.
Mrs Preeti, who runs the home, was overwhelmed and said that the children had come with a lot of preparation, enthusiasm and with good intentions.
. Though we spent only a few hours with them, they made us realize the value of our grandparents and the tenderness with which we need to take care of them.
The children realized that love for their family, particularly their grandparents has grown stronger and deeper.
Opportunity words and loved ones — once gone, they never come back!

CBSE Workshop-Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skills

G G International School believes in EMPOWERING KNOWLEDGE and this motto stands true not only for its students but also for its teaching fraternity.
The school is always prepared to equip its teachers with the latest and updated tools of education and hands on knowledge of the latest trends in the teaching learning process. With this aim in view, the teachers of the English Department- Mrs. Vishakha Gupta and Mrs. Malini Mehrotra were sent to attend a workshop at The Orchids School, Baner, Pune on the 3rd and 4th of October 2013.
The workshop was conducted by CBSE moderators Ms. Neelima Sharma and Ms. Kiran Bhatt on the Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skills for the senior classes. The program aims at bringing the students of the senior grades at par with the international examinations in English, which is why the CBSE Board has tied up with the Trinity College to design this testing program.

The workshop gave immense exposure to the latest trends and procedures followed in the process with simulation of the actual one. The formats, the marking pattern, the rating scales, the recording procedure and the guidelines to be followed while testing, were explained elaborately.
Topics ranging from-the Importance the program, Bloom’s Taxonomy, the precise way of grading a student to avoid under or over marking, the process by which a child should be made comfortable in a class room situation and testing environment, were great eye openers.

The videos of the pilot project helped to understand the modus operandi of the test. It presented the precise method by which the testing has to be carried out for the students in the school, the marking process, the recording procedure and the method of compilation, to bring them at par with the international level.
The teachers who took this training will be termed ASL trained teachers and authorised to conduct these tests within their school. A Couple of handouts elicited the process clearly and proved a ready reckoner for the examiners.

It was indeed a learning experience and the teachers hence trained are highly grateful to the management for providing them with this opportunity.
