Workshop on Logical Thinking

G G International School is a pioneer institute in the field of innovative and quality education. Through various activities, talks, discussions and visiting lecturers; it believes in enlivening its students’ personality holistically through multiple grooming tools leading to the ultimate goal of being confident individuals and finally playing a key role in nation building.

A workshop for class XI and XII was organized on 25th Oct 13 Friday by Ms. Fehmida, who explained in a very appropriate manner, to what logical thinking means. She said that logical thinking helps one to discern the truth, solve problems, and make good decisions -- unless one’s logic is flawed. She gave a few principles that would help to ensure correct reasoning and an understanding premise.

She elucidated that logical thinking was the ability to solve problems and make smart decisions. This was done through multiple exercises to sharpen the brain through activities like solving puzzles, jigsaws, kakuro, Sudoku, Alpha triangle, Mensa puzzles etc. She further added that if one had to be a logical thinker, it would be lucrative to frequently play with puzzles such as Rubik cube, Neocube, Word Search etc...

The students were divided into two groups and exposed to many puzzles with guidance how to discern the correct answer from an incorrect one. This was very ingeniously solved by them. The speakers also guided the student community regarding the use of non verbal communication skill and drilled them with the confidence to communicate.

The students returned enriched with the tools of logical reasoning and thinking. They thanked the management for organizing such innovative workshops which would help them in grooming their personality and the ability to reason in a decisive situation.

Lantern Making Competition at GG International School

As the students eagerly await the Indian festival of lights, “Deepawali”, an Inter house Lantern Making Competition was organised at GG International School for classes III to V on 19 October 2013.  All the students participated in the competition zealously.

The competition was adjudged by a parent- judge Mrs Anju Mittal and the Art teacher Mr Rajesh Deshmukh. They appreciated the efforts put in by the children. Mrs. Anju Mittal commented, “Children have been very creative and have put in a lot of hard work. Atmaraksha Workshop at GG International School

‘The correct rhythm not only gives you maximum power, it helps you conserve energy so you know when to use force and when not to.’

Empowering the students with the tools of Self Defence and confidence has been the prerogative of G G International School.
With the changing times and social conditions it becomes mandatory to be aware of the simple techniques of Self Defence therefore GGIS in collaboration with Times NIE arranged a workshop on Atmaraksha (Self Defence) on 14th and 15th Oct 13. This workshop specially focused upon the 13 to 15 years age group (Classes VIII to X).

In a duration of nearly 1 ½ hr the guest speaker, Mr. Tanmoy Bandipadhyay, discussed and enumerated upon the behaviour when stuck in critical conditions. It basically highlighted a point across that an alert and quick thinking mind is able to avert many problems at the grass root level.

The workshop taught the girls and boys to defend themselves from untoward incidents at public places or even inside their homes through simple yet effective  techniques, like- AFLOAT an acronym which stands for
A- Apprise & assess your behaviour
F- Forget about it/Ignore the person
L- Leave the situation/ walk away
A- Openly express yourself
T- Tell someone
He also removed the most popular misconception that Self Defence means a kick to the groin or a fist in the eyes of an attacker. But the actual terms Self Defence is doing everything possible to avoid fighting someone who threatens or attacks.
Speaking further the guest said that, self-defence is all about using one’s head and not just the fists. This education has no or very minimal requirements. It does not matter whether one has any previous experience or not. It is just Practical and Simple life saving skill and techniques with minimal commitment.
The students had a very interactive session with the speaker and went back more informed and alert for the future.
